Axwound's Drunken Hogs opened the 2023 startup with a haul most rooms only dream about: Christian McCaffrey at 1.04, then Travis Kelce, Garrett Wilson, Nick Chubb, and Mike Evans and Keenan Allen later on. The best fantasy asset in football anchoring a stacked board.

They came out 5-0 and never really cooled, riding CMC and a Week 1 waiver larceny, Brock Purdy plucked off the wire for Odell Beckham, to 10-5 and the third-most points in the league that year (2077.3). Chubb's Week 2 knee injury took a piece off the board; the offense was deep enough not to notice. Along the way they twice dismantled division-mate thompr, 141.4-73.1 and 187.6-101.2.

The bracket ended it fast. They drew thompr a third time and this time lost, 134.5-149.4. The fifth-place game was uglier, Big Tex's Pillow Biters burying them 74.0-120.7. Sixth place, and out.

There was one last curiosity. At the Week 10 deadline they sent Deshaun Watson to the Prodigies for Kirk Cousins, a quarterback already lost for the year to a torn Achilles, a dynasty buy-low the franchise never stuck around to cash. After a single season the Hogs were gone, roster 8 reborn as 2nd Hand Smoke in 2024.

The 10-5 debut remains the strongest one-season cameo the North Side has seen, and thompr, twice destroyed in the regular season, got the only word that mattered in the playoffs. Drunken Hogs are the league's great what-if, a contender that walked away from a loaded board after one autumn.
